BORYS MALYNOVSKY’S 100th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

On August 24, 2021 and on the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, we mark 100th birth anniversary of Borys Mykolayovych Malynovsky, a remarkable person, an outstanding scientist, and a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In the early 1960s, he promoted Ukrainian science with a pioneer design of the semi-conductor computer "Dnipro", which became at that time the best development of its kind.

Borys Mykolayovych had an interesting life. He went through the war where he was wounded twice, later witnessed the beginning of computer science and technology in Ukraine. For more than half a century Borys Mykolayovych worked at the Institute of Cybernetics, was personally acquainted with the legendary scientific personalities of that era and, in addition, was a great writer and an amazing narrator who did a lot for preserving the history of computer technology in Ukraine, the achievements and people responsible for them.

Borys Malynovsky's numerous books describe about a 30 year period of the development of computer technology (from the 1940's through the 1970's) which was full of amazing hard work and unprecedented achievements. For many years he chaired an academician’s round table at the Kyiv House of Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 1998, on his initiative, the website and the museum at the Kyiv House of Scientists was created and was devoted to the history and development of computer technology in Ukraine.
